How Sponsors Can Help

What We Need from Sponsors

Sponsoring a CAA award gives you, your organization, or your company an opportunity to promote the best in current Canadian writing. The Canadian Authors Association administers these awards, but the generosity of our sponsors enables the CAA Literary Awards Program to continue.

Costs of Administration

The costs of administration include the promotion of the awards, the generating and distribution of the entry requirements and forms each year, the costs of shipping books to the judges and back, and other related costs. There is also the cost of the medals and the provision of the prize money.

Significant CAA Investment

The majority of the work is shared by a volunteer National Awards Chair and the National Office.

There is a significant investment of the National Administrator's time to fulfil these requirements. The CAA may need to hire casual labour to help with the administrative process if this burden exceeds the capacity of our one-person office.

What We Offer to Sponsors

Where possible, we will include your logo on the page containing the history and details about the award you sponsor and a link to your corporate Web site. Recognition extends to our printed awards literature and at the readings held during the awards banquet at our annual conference.

The Awards Process

Each year a trustee for each award appointed by the CAA will select up to three judges. Identities of the trustee and judges is confidential. Short lists are not made public. Decisions of the trustee and judges is final, and they may choose not to award a prize.

There is also a fee assessed per title entered for a number of the awards to offset a portion of the awards program administrative costs.
